Driving Reliability Through Proactive Maintenance

David joined Altera Infrastructure in 2023 and works as a Maintenance Engineer with a strong focus on operational support. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, with a focus on operations and maintenance, and has several years of experience within operations and maintenance management, including international roles in Kuala Lumpur, Rio de Janeiro, and Luanda.

In my role, I focus on developing and optimizing maintenance management, ensuring asset integrity, and supporting operations in maintaining safe and efficient production. At its core, the work is about combining technical knowledge with planning and structured follow up to keep equipment and infrastructure reliable, safe, and performing for the long term.

When improvements in systems or maintenance strategies lead to smoother operations or reduced risk, it clearly demonstrates the value of a proactive approach. I also appreciate the balance between big picture thinking and detailed technical work.”

The role has strengthened my strategic understanding of maintenance management and improved my ability to see the bigger picture while still focusing on details. Being challenged in complex and high responsibility environments has reinforced my confidence in taking ownership and thinking long term.
