We support WWF’s effort to tackle plastic pollution. Therefore, on Sunday September 20th Altera’s Stavanger Office organized our annual Beach Clean Up Day as part of the #holdnorgerent campaign.  Colleaguesfriends and families joined the event and we quickly managed to pick up a total of 220 kg of trash and litter from one of the many beaches off the Jæren-coast.

On October 18th, the “NRK TV-aksjonen fundraiser will take place, and they have chosen WWF as the beneficiary for 2020.  This is an annual telethon event that has been hosted by Norwegian charities since 1974.  The fundraiser is the world’s largest, measured in terms of donated value per capita and number of participants. The funds raised will aid WWF’s effort to tackle plastic pollution at the source by establishing and improving waste management systems for more than 900 000 people living in Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia and The Philippines.  And, this year Altera has pledged to donate NOK 100,- per kg of waste picked-up during our Beach Clean Up Day, resulting in NOK 22 000,- that will support this great cause.

We hope you’ll join in this effort to eliminate waste in our oceans.  Altera endorses the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals, and in particular SDG 14 – Life Below water. We must all do our part to ensure a sustainable future, because our collective actions have a direct impact on nature and our marine life.
