Altera Wave is the fifth out of six new E-shuttles, and is currently undergoing testing before delivery later this year.

During Sea Trials/Gas Trials this week we tested the battery installation onboard Altera Wave. The vessel is built to DNVGL’s Battery Power notation and has a battery pack of 1808kWh installed. The test was a great success and showed that the vessel was able to maintain 6-7 knots for almost 20 minutes on batteries only!

The main purpose of the batteries is to reduce fuel consumption and emissions by peak shaving, prevent black-outs, and improve safety during DP operations by replacing power from one generator if needed.
