When Teekay Offshore became Altera Infrastructure on March 24th, we also became the newest member of the Ship Recycling Transparency Initiative (SRTI). The vision of the SRTI is of a world where ships are recycled responsibly – socially, environmentally and economically – going beyond international conventions and setting a new norm for responsible ship recycling.

As part of Teekay group of companies, we have been members since March 2019, actively promoting responsible ship recycling. Our Altera representative remains in the SRTI steering committee for the length of the current period.

Continuing the SRTI membership under our new brand name was a matter of course. We want to take a leading position in the change we all need to be a part of, and we believe openness and transparency are key in achieving this.
Ingvild Sæther, President & Chief Executive Officer Altera Infrastructure Group Ltd.

We are committed to be a part of the solution, and we encourage participation from all members of the maritime industry. With proper commitment and engagement, we believe responsible ship recycling is achievable.

About SRTI:

Launched in March 2018, the SRTI is an open initiative with a mission to accelerate a voluntary market-driven approach to responsible ship recycling practices through transparency; and subsequently to inform decision-making and create fair competition across the shipping industry.
